Visa-free policy
China offers 30-day visa-free for citizens from the following countries, effective from 30 November 2024 to 31 December 2025:
New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Australia, Poland, Slovakia.
Other than above countries, you will need to apply for a visa
To apply for a China visa, you will need to complete an online application, gather required documents, book an appointment, submit your application in person or via courier, and then pay the visa fees and collect your passport with the visa. The more detailed process is presented below:
- Determine Visa Type and Gather Documents:
- Identify the visa type: Determine the purpose of your travel (tourism, business, study, etc) and chose the appropriate visa category.
- Gather requirement documents including passport with at least six months of remaining validity; photocopy of the passport’s data page; complete China Online Visa Application Form; two recently-take colour photos; any supporting documents on your visa category and travel purpose.
- Complete the Online Application: Access the China Online Visa Application website (cova.mfa.gov.cn): Print and sign the application form.
- Book an Appointment: Use the Appointment for Visa Application website (avas.mfa.gov.cn); Schedule an appointment for submitting your visa application.
- Submit your application:
- Visit the visa office with your passport, supporting documents, and the printed and signed application form.
- Submit via courier or post (if applicable): Some applicants may be able to submit their applications via courier or post, but urgent applications must be logged in person.
- Payment and Collection:
- Pay the visa fees: you will be given a pickup slip after submission.
- Bring your pickup slip to the Visa Office to collect your passport with the visa.
